Gail Dee Shay Ford,  84, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep under hospice care on January 5, 2026.   She was surrounded by her children and their families in the days before her death. Gail was born February 14, 1941 in Armstrong County, PA to Jack and Helen Shay. Gail grew up in Goheenville, Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh.  She faithfully served and supported her first husband, Hal Guthrie, raising their two children, and building homes for them in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Texas. She was the sole business owner of a floral shop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Four Seasons Florist.  She married Dave Ford on September 1, 2001 in Cedar Rapids, IA, where they made their home together. Following Dave’s death, Gail moved to Frisco, Texas to live near family. She had a very welcoming spirit, loved flowers, dressing well with jewelry and hats to match, home cooked food or a good meal out, setting a beautiful table with linens, pretty things, laughing, and telling stories with people.  Gail valued all people.  Surviving immediate family members include her son Duane Alan Guthrie and his wife Amy of Allen, TX, daughter Amy Gail Brown and her husband Curtiss of Round Rock, TX, grandchildren Caleb Benjamin Brown, Jameson Luke Brown, Mollie Grace Guthrie and Olivia Hope Guthrie. Her surviving siblings include brother Gary Shay (spouse, Bonnie), Glenn Shay (spouse, Karen), and Beverly (Shay) Moore (spouse Stan).
