Jean Schalk passed away December 6, 2025, at the age of 93, in Sachse, Texas.  After a long and difficult battle with various health conditions, she is now free of pain and enjoying her heavenly home.

Jean was born November 22, 1932, in Brookeland, Texas.  She was a long-time resident of Texas City, Texas.  After graduating from College of the Mainland and attending the University of Houston Clear Lake, she worked for the Texas City ISD until she retired.  She later moved to Sachse, Texas, to be closer to family.  She was a member of the Mainland Church of Christ in Texas City and the Wylie Church of Christ.

Jean enjoyed her passion for sports by coaching softball and cheering on her favorite teams.  She was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks.  Over the years, she enjoyed photography, gardening, and crocheting.  She created crocheted treasures for her family and made hundreds of handmade hats that made their way to at-risk children overseas.  She will always be remembered for her love, devotion, and generosity.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Sidney Ray Schalk.  She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Stroud and her husband Allen of Sachse, Texas, and her son Dr. Ron Schalk of McAllen, Texas; her grandchildren Kristen Miller and her husband Scott of Wylie, Texas, Barrett Stroud and his wife Tiffany of Wylie, Texas, and Chris Schalk and his wife Nicki of San Antonio, Texas; great grandchildren Addi and Ethan Miller; Mason, Jackson, Grayson, and Hudson Stroud; and Norah and Maya Schalk.
