Leonetta Burton, Age:83

Leonetta Maxine (Mizell) Burton
Has passed away on September 6, 2024 in Plano, TX after battling a long illness with Alzheimers disease.
Leonetta, affectionately known as Leo, was born August 7, 1941 to Olga and George Luke Mizell in
Richmond Virgina.

Leo attended Texas Wesleyan University from which she graduated with Bachelors in Art and Education.
She also pursued and received a Masters in Interior Design from University of Texas, Arlington.
On April 13, 1962 she married Donald Burton of Fort Worth Texas who predeceased her in 1980.
Following the death of her husband, Leo relocated to Poughkeepsie NY to be near her dear brother Luke
Melville Mizell, who also predeceased her in 1999.

While living in Poughkeepsie, Leo worked for the American Cancer Society for many years and also
continued her passion by exploring many varied art medias and volunteering for Bardavon Opera House
for whom she also designed and created billboard posters for their theatrical and music productions.
Leo met Edward Babcock in 1989 and they shared many years together in Poughkeepsie before they
returned to her beloved Texas in 2011; Ed also predeceased her in 2018.

Leo is survived by her three sons, Alan Burton of Plano Texas, Scott Burton in Beaufort SC and Mark
Burton of McAllen Texas. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Alex Burton, Claire Burton and
Natalie Burton of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is also survived by a niece Lee Ann Mizell Lindstrom and
nephew Jeffrey Mizell.

Leo lived a life full of passion for creativity and the arts. She enjoyed the company of many good friends
throughout her life. She was a gentle and joyful person who will be dearly missed by her family and all
who had the pleasure of knowing her.
