Thomas Paul Tullis, lovingly called Dad, Pa, Coach Tullis, and Paul, passed on June 29, 2026
at home at the age of 59.
Paul was a true Texan, born in Dallas, Texas on November 13, 1966.
He grew up in Mesquite and spent his later years in Mount Vernon and Van Alstyne. He
graduated with a B.S. in Education from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas in
1990 and a M.S. in Health and Physical Education from Texas A&M University Commerce in
1997. Paul spent his professional career coaching middle and high school football teams and
teaching social studies.
Paul was a proud man of God who deeply loved his family and friends. He loved to golf, fish,
listen to live music, attend trivia nights, drink a cold beer while playing poker with friends, and
watch the Cowboys, no matter the outcome. Paul was a devout Christian who lived in the light
of the Lord. He led as an example for those around him by sharing the love of Jesus through his
passions for bible studies, coaching, and mission work. As a coach and a teacher, Paul was
adored by his students for his kindness and generosity, and in turn, he poured love and support
into his students to help them grow.
In addition to his parents, James and Pauline, he was preceded in death by his brother Donny
and sister Judi. Paul is survived by his wife Sharilyn of thirty-four years; daughter Hayley and
her fiance Olly; son Hank and his wife Lauren; grandsons Beau and Brooks; sister Kathy;
brother John and his wife April. His closest loved ones include Lyn, Janis, Savannah, Alex,
Jake, Chad, Dylan, Dustin, and Hunter.
Paul was an inspiration to all with his passion for living life to the fullest and sharing the gospel.
A role model for those around him, he spread positivity and laughter wherever he went. His
generosity knew no limits, no favor was too big, and no conversation would ever be denied.
There was never a doubt that you could always count on Paul. He is loved and fondly
remembered by so many friends, all of whom have a story about what made Paul so special.
All are welcome to join Paul’s family for a celebration of life that will be held at 10 AM on Friday,

The family would love stories of Paul to be shared with them, through the obituary site at All
Texas Cremation, by voice note or written stories directly to the family, or on Paul’s Facebook
page.
A favorite bible verse of Paul’s: Isaiah 40:31 - "But those who trust in the Lord will renew their
strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will
walk and not be faint."
