December 12, 1938 -- May 31, 2026

Doreen , Age:87

Doreen "Dori" Catherine McCrackin earned her angel wings on May 31, 2026, at 87 years old. Born on December 12, 1938, to Arthur & Catherine Suckling in Norfolk, England.

Dori moved to Indiana in 1961 with her oldest son, Terry, and had two more boys, Craig and Jan.

Dori met her best friend and love of her life, William "Bill" Henry McCrackin, in June 1968, and they were married on October 5, 1968, for 38 years. It was so admirable to hear they only knew each other for 4 months, and had a true, loving marriage.

Together, they created a beautiful family that consisted of her 3 boys, numerous foster children, and Bill's 4 children: Bill Elliott, Kelly McCrackin, Terri Krauss, and Steve Elliott. Along with their children, they had 8 grandchildren and 11 (soon to be 12) great-grandchildren.

Dori loved traveling with her husband overseas and all over the country! Being that she was an only child, she longed for a large family- and she was able to have just that! She loved her family and her grandchildren. Weekly Family get-togethers were common, spending time with her grandchildren every chance she was able to, and helping out during school pick-ups and holidays. She created beautiful memories with her family- and she would always say "I love my family".

She was the strongest woman, surviving some pretty remarkable hardships, and was the perfect example of a pillar of strength.

She enjoyed dominating all the men in her Tuesday and Thursday poker games, and would get excited at the chance of playing Bingo and Chickenfoot. She loved knitting and created her own patterns. And absolutely loved gardening. She would show us all the flowers she had grown in her garden so we could also admire the beauty she had planted.

The words you read on this page will never be adequate enough to fully encompass the person Dori was to anyone who was blessed enough to know her. Dori loved fiercely and impacted everyone she met in her life. She was a truth teller, a holder of secrets to those that trusted her with them, and her shoulders held the world. She valued family over everything.

Dori is survived by her three sons: Terry and wife Ivy McCrackin, Craig and wife Bonnie McCrackin, Jan and wife Beth McCrackin, her 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Catherine, her husband, Bill, and her grandson, Christopher McCrackin.

Dori and Bill fostered many children over the years, and they were passionate about helping others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the National Angels charity to further support foster children in need.

Deepest condolences to all the family. I had the pleasure of visiting with her last December at Cooper’s birthday party. What a sweetheart she was.
