Michael Ray Savell, 62, of Andrews went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas, following a brief illness.
Michael was born on February 2, 1964, in Loraine, Texas, alongside his twin sister, Cathy, to Mike and Gloria Ruth Savell.
He graduated from Andrews High School in 1983 and proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Army and Army National Guard. Michael also dedicated more than 35 years to the West Texas oilfield industry. He was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church and was active as a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and the Gideons. Michael loved the Lord, his family, his friends, his church and his country, and he lived his life in service to each of them.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cassandra; his children, Gina Smith of Andrews, Carolyn Smith and husband Keegan of Riverside, California, and Christopher Smith and wife Elizabeth of Wilburton, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth Savell of Amarillo; stepmother, Ruth Van Winkle of Hobbs, New Mexico; sisters, Glory Ward and husband Dale of Amarillo, Goldie Young and husband Kenneth of Palestine, Cathy Snowden and husband Clifton of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mary Savell of Little Rock, Arkansas; and brother, Mark Savell and wife Shannon of Andrews. Michael also leaves behind two grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Michael touched countless lives through his kindness, faith, and dedication to others, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

I will always remember the kindness and caring heart Michael had. He got the rubber mats for the ramp so Matthew’s wheelchair wouldn’t slide when the ramp was wet. Cassandra and Michael were my friends. My prayers and thoughts are with Cassandra and the family.
