July 24, 1960 -- May 09, 2026

Connie Mae Miner, Age:65

Connie Mae Miner passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished most.

Born on July 24, 1960, in Kermit, Texas, to the late R. Neal and Marie Hawkins, Connie was raised in Wink, Texas, where toughness was simply a way of life. Growing up in the oil patch of west Texas shaped her into the resilient and fiercely independent woman so many knew and loved. She was as tough as they come yet carried a heart big enough to make everyone around her feel at home.

While attending Wink High School, Connie excelled in track and volleyball, often leaving coaches asking how she was so fast yet her brothers were “so slow.” In her twenties, she became a force to be reckoned with on the softball fields of Monahans, TX where she held her own at first base with an infield full of men.

Connie’s knowledge of the oil industry came naturally after being raised in the oil patch, and she spent some time working for various well service companies throughout Winkler County. Her “can-do” attitude and how she carried herself earned her respect wherever she went.
In 1995, Connie made her way to south Texas, where she met the love of her life and best friend of 30 years, Richard Jay Miner, Sr., whom she affectionately referred to simply as “Husband.” Together they built a beautiful life in DeWitt County, settling on 15 acres where Connie rediscovered her passions for cooking, gardening, and country living. She could often be found tending her plants, feeding those she loved, or standing over a cast-iron skillet making sure no one ever left hungry.

Connie’s home was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and laughter came easily. Even with miles separating her from her siblings, surprise visits were common — and Connie always welcomed everyone with open arms and a hot meal ready to go.
Above all else, Connie loved her family deeply and selflessly. Her greatest joy in life was being “Meemaw” to her four beloved granddaughters: Kaylee Marie Greene, Morgan Claire Greene, Marley Reese Greene, and Olivia Elaine Greene. They were the absolute loves of her life, and she wore the title of Meemaw with immeasurable pride.

Connie is survived by her husband and best friend, Richard Jay Miner, Sr. of Yoakum, Texas; sons Richard Todd Greene and wife Kristen of Wylie, Texas, and Lance D. “Cooter” Greene of Yoakum, Texas; stepchildren Richard Jay Miner, Jr. and Nicole Miner, both of Sugar Land, Texas; brothers, Ronnie Hawkins of Wink, TX; Bobby Hawkins and wife Tina of College Station, TX; Danny Hawkins and wife, Robin of Wink, TX; Tommy Hawkins and wife Paula of Wink, TX; cherished granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Ann Barger; and her brother, Gary Lynn Hawkins.

Connie lived life exactly the way she wanted — fiercely loyal, free-spirited and full of love. She never asked for much, gave everything she had, and made sure the people she loved always knew it. The world feels a little less warm without her in it, but her spirit will live on in every family gathering, every cast-iron skillet meal, every garden grown, and every story told about the unforgettable woman from west Texas who loved with her whole heart.
