Eric "Hal" Haldane Hansen, Age:87

Eric “Hal” Haldane Hansen III, 87, of McKinney, Texas died on May 4,
2026, following a brief battle with illness.  Born on July 1, 1938, in
Peekskill, New York to Eric and Helen Hansen, Hal was an only child.  He
embodied the term “student athlete” graduating Salutatorian from
Oswego High School in Oswego while lettering in cross country and
basketball where he earned All-City honors.  Hal first attended the
University of Michigan before earning his bachelor’s degree from
Springfield College in 1961.  He later received his Master of Business
Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1974.

After graduating college, Hal joined the Armed Service and was an
Artillery Specialist in the 101st AIRBORNE Division of the US Army from
1961 to 1964.  He was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, he proudly carried
the spirit of the “Screaming Eagles” throughout his life.  Upon
being discharged, he married his Oswego sweetheart, Linda Ann Workman,
on July 3rd, 1965.  They were married for 53 years until her passing in
the summer of 2018.  They welcomed a son, Bruce Geddes Hansen in 1972
and settled in Brighton, NY, and later Charlotte, NC.  Hal worked in
personal finances as a stockbroker for most of his career.

Hal is survived by his son Bruce; grandchildren Kamryn Hansen and Kendyl
Hansen of Dallas, Texas; his sisters-in-law Susan Workman (Amherst, MA)
and Vivienne “Rae” Workman (Houston TX); nieces and nephew Brenda
Hanaburgh (Wilmington, NC), Sarah Hanaburgh (Briarcliffe Manor, NY),
Emily Workman Love (Haddonfield, NJ), Julie McCauley (Houston, TX),
James T. Hanaburgh (Tokyo, Japan), and their children.

Importantly, he will be missed by the many friends he leaves behind
including those at Pioneer Ridge Gracious Retirement Living Community
who have made his last years on earth a lot of fun.  Hal is remembered
for being a real tough guy, but his service, dedication and sacrifices
to his family show his true nature.  He loved listening to music,
watching movies and football – Go Blue!  We will miss his brand of
mischief and his laughter, but we will never forget the “Screaming
Eagle” himself, the legend.  May he rest in peace as he rejoins Linda
and his parents in heaven.

Hal will be honored at a private gathering per the family’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Cottonwood
Creek Church, Allen, Texas.
