Tammy Lunday, Age:59

Tammy Borden Lunday, 59, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026 at home surrounded by the love of her family after battling ovarian cancer for a long time.  She was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on March 14, 1967. She applied her love for others, her warmth, and her strength into everything she did during her lifetime.

After graduating from Hobbs High School in 1985, Tammy moved to Dallas to start a new life. While working as a paralegal until the birth of her second child, she ultimately focused her efforts on being a mother and homemaker. Creating a home filled with laughter, love, and comfort was her main focus.

Tammy married the love of her life, David Lunday, on May 16, 1992. That was the start of a beautiful 33 year marriage built on faith, partnership, and his unwavering devotion to her. Together they raised their two children, Ethan Lunday and Makayla Lunday Lannom, which were the joy of her life.

Tammy was a loving and strong woman. Even though she faced hard times in life, her strength stood out. She protected and cared for those that came into contact with her. A constant source of encouragement for all that knew her, she was a source of inspiration. Her faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Tammy attended women's bible study groups and participated in Vacation Bible school and children's ministries for many years, providing guidance and support to other families and young generations of Christians.

Tammy found joy in everyday things. She enjoyed antiquing, traveling around the world and across the United States, and making memories with her family on cruises and road trips. A talented baker, Tammy created beautiful cakes that she gifted to her friends, family, and the community. One of her favorite things to do with her daughter was bake.  And she rarely let a week pass without having family over for ‘game night’ to play card games.

Tammy was very involved in her local community. She led Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a part of the DFW Ovarian Cancer Survivor Group. This was a group of survivors who could offer each other encouragement and support while living with ovarian cancer. Her kindness extended far beyond her own home. She often baked goods for community functions and for Icing Smiles. She also volunteered with PALS at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas for over 20 years.  Tammy always seemed to find a way to unite people.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband, David Lunday; her son, Ethan Lunday; her daughter, Makayla Lannom; her sister, Cheri Fernading; her brother, Eddie Borden; her stepmother Wilsie Borden; her uncle Jay H. Oates, and many extended family members and friends. Those that knew her are left with a legacy of love, faith, and courage that will be felt for years to come.

A celebration of Tammy's life will take place on March 28, 2026 at 4:00 PM at The Chapel at Chestnut Square, located at 315 S. Chestnut Street, McKinney, Texas.

Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tammy's name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. To make a donation, please visit https://www.ocrahope.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/make-a-donation/

Tammy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her faith, her love for her family, and how she warmed up the hearts of everyone in the room. Her life was an example of love and grace, and she will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all that had the opportunity to meet her.
