Amado "Papa" Lozano, Age:74

Amado “Papa” Lozano was born on May 3, 1951, in Lozano, Texas, and entered his heavenly home on January 10, 2026, in Plano, Texas. While his passing was sudden, the life he lived was intentional, faithful, and full of love—and that legacy remains firmly planted in the hearts of all who knew him.

Papa was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God. His life was marked by deep faith, quiet sacrifice, and an unwavering compassion for people.

Growing up in California, everyone loved Amado's joyful attitude. He was a star wrestler for Livingston High School, graduating in 1970. He continued his wrestling career at University of California, Davis where he met Jesus through a classmate. This new path led him to Moody Bible Institute where he met the love of his life, Barbara Stubley. They were married in 1978 and built a marriage rooted in faith, service, and steadfast devotion.

Papa attended Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 1982. He then served as a Dallas firefighter, saving lives, before bravely answering God’s call to missions abroad. He was ordained as a pastor in 1985 at Northwest Bible Church and led his family to Central America, where he trained and discipled fellow brothers and pastors for 15 years. Even when he returned to serve Hispanic churches in Dallas, he would frequently travel to Guatemala, Cuba, and Mexico, providing meals, teaching God’s Word, and offering hope to those often overlooked—especially orphans and the fatherless.

Papa was sacrificial, decisive, deliberate, and thoughtful in all he did. At home, he loved time with his grandchildren, house projects, and fixer-uppers that reflected his belief in restoration. He enjoyed Chinese food, thrift-store treasure hunting, and finding beauty where others might not look.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Lozano; his children, Daniela Lozano, Joel Lozano and wife Amber, Benaiah Lozano and wife Shannon, and Ethan Lozano; his cherished grandchildren: Aiden, Micah, Liam, and Korisa; and his siblings: Mary, Chat, Art, Henry, Hector, Patricia, and Marty. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northwest Bible Church, Dallas, TX.

Papa loved the Old Testament and lived out Micah 6:8 daily: to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God. Just as his name Amado means “beloved,” everyone knew him by his kindness—and by his deep, unmistakable love for God.
