Lisa Sue Ragon, Age:62

In Loving Memory

Lisa Sue Ragon
February 10, 1963 – December 22, 2025
Rowlett, Texas

Lisa Sue Ragon, age 62, of Rowlett, Texas, was born on February 10, 1963, and peacefully lost her courageous battle with cancer on December 22, 2025.

Lisa grew up in the DFW area and spent most of her childhood in Garland, Texas. Known for her outgoing personality and joyful spirit, she made many lifelong friends. She attended North Garland High School, where she played basketball, volleyball, and softball, and proudly graduated with the Class of 1981.

Lisa had a lifelong love for sports and the outdoors. She especially enjoyed fishing, archery, water skiing, boating, and lake life. She studied to become a dental technician and worked in dental offices, with family members at Frito‑Lay, and later in advertising sales.

Lisa was passionate, loving, generous, and full of joy. She loved her family and close friends fiercely and gave to them endlessly. Her favorite pastimes included estate sales, thrift store shopping, and visiting First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas. She cherished time spent at Susan Matassa’s ranch—lovingly named Ragon’s Retreat—boating and relaxing at the lake with Debbie Knezek, feeding birds and ducks, kayaking, and enjoying the beach at Galveston and hanging out by the lake with her best friend and life companion, Mary Gilbert.

Music was one of Lisa’s greatest gifts. She had a beautiful voice and a deep love for country music. Her passion opened many doors, including performing on the Main Stage at the State Fair of Texas, Billy Bob’s Texas, and other venues throughout the DFW area. She sang alongside friends Mary Gilbert and Doug Edwards, wrote and recorded her own music—including Brand New Man and Just Too Good to Be Through—and earned numerous awards. Lisa was honored as Best Female Vocalist in the DFW Area by Coast to Coast Music.

Doug Edwards January 10, 2026

Friend Rowlett , Texas

Lisa Ragon was a larger than life individual whose zest for life touched all that knew her. She could enthrall a crowd while spinning a basketball on her finger or wow them as a singer and fabulous entertainer. Although she possessed so many wonderful talents, Lisa cared deeply for other people, all creatures, and all of God's creation. She will be very much missed. Love and condolences to Lisa's family and friends. She loved us all so very much.

Susan Matassa January 10, 2026

Best friend Canton , Texas

Lisa has left a huge hole in our heart, and life will be a little sad for quite some time. She lived life to the fullest, and taught us all how to love God , family, and nature, and how to live life to the fullest. Always leaving a smile on your face and love in your heart when she was around. Definitely, one of a kind, with a heart of gold, and will never , ever be forgotten. Happy Trails little buddy, and since I can Never say goodbye , I will say, see you on the other side, keep that light on for me, and keep sending me signs from up above. Love you Ragon!🤠 Peace, Love, and Fish!!

Cindy Edwards January 10, 2026

Friend Rowlett , Texas

A favorite memory of Lisa is when she was to sing at a fund raiser for Autism at the Dallas Apparel Mart. The likes of former Cowboy Randy White and news anchor Gloria Campos were also part of this event. Lisa was getting ready to perform when uh-oh, she had a wardrobe malfunction. Always prepared, she had some heavy duty tape in her bag. Lisa was sort of in a panic here, when I heard her tell me "Cindy, put that tape around me as tight as you can." Lisa went on to entertain just like the professional that she was.

Friend Irving , Texas

Lisa became a part of my softball ladies in Irving. She and my brother Chuck became softball groupies and we became followers of hers and Doug Edward's singing. She was a true songbird. I last saw her in 2021 (then already sick, but, unbeknownest to me,) And she lovingly agreed to sing at my brother's funeral and now he has her up in heaven to sing to him as his personal songbirdis,.llnow he has her up in heaven to mmmI am sorry she's gone, butay go I am sorry that she has such a wonderful fan to greet her! She was a lovely lady, and I am glad I had to poop
