Rudy Amezquita Gonzales age 68 of Dawson, Texas passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2025 at 5:35am after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded with love, his wife, and his family. He was our hero, our heart, and we will cherish him forever.
He was born on February 15th 1957 in Austin, Texas to Sara Amezquita and Jesse Flores Gonzales.
He began dancing as a young child, first with his mother, later at church events, community festivals, and family gatherings.
At age 14, he began his professional career as a Ballroom Dance instructor. He eventually opened and operated several dance studios throughout the US in his lifetime. He loved dance and started competing professionally at the age of 17. At 19 years old, he won three National Dance Championship titles in American, International, and Theater Arts style dance. He traveled worldwide in his dance career and studied with multiple top dance professionals. He taught Ballroom, Latin American style, Country Western and Tejano dance. He was the dance instructor for the National Tejano Music convention in Las Vegas for several years. He was extremely proud of his career and accomplishments. He was certified with the National Dance Council of America and the National Dance Teachers Association.
Rudy was known for being an incredible and enthusiastic dancer on the floor. He was a beloved dance instructor, a friend to many musicians, and a big supporter of the Tejano music scene.
He will be remembered for his kind spirit, contagious joy, witty sense of humor, and unwavering Love of people and dancing. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh. He always had an exterior of confidence and a big smile on his face. He was a true artist on and off the dance floor.
Rudy left a lasting impact on all those who crossed his path. He never met a stranger and was always the first one to introduce himself and make friendly conversations with those he met. He truly believed that you only have one life to live and that you should live it to the fullest. And that's what he did until his last breath.
He loved music, fishing, traveling, dancing, and his family. He had the biggest heart and would go out of his way to help people.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life Scarlett Ribbon Robbins Gonzales. His kids Aubrey Robbins, Nathan Robbins, Paisley Robbins, and Mason Robbins. His daughter Heather Renee Gonzales- Walton, son-in-law Eric Charles Walton Sr, and grandkids Lily Jane Gonzalez, Bella Nicole Gonzalez, and Eric Charles Walton Jr. He is also survived by Tim and Denise, whom he helped love and care for.
