Lola Beth Caler

July 5, 1938 – June 27, 2025

Lola Beth Caler, 86, of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025 after a long illness. She was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on July 5, 1938.

Lola had a full, rich life as the loving center of her family and countless friends. She had a genuine love of people and her natural optimism connected her with almost anyone.

She spent many of her early years in Grand Junction, Colorado where she graduated high school and later met and married the love of her life, the late Doug Caler, on December 11th, 1959. Her and Doug eventually settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado with their three daughters where they lived for many years.

Lola worked off and on but was primarily a dedicated homemaker while her girls were growing up. She was renowned for her cooking and would happily host large gatherings of friends and family where everyone was welcome to enjoy delicious food and friendly conversation. Her incredible talent with virtually any and all crafts was something to behold. She was not only an expert seamstress, making everything from clothing to quilts, but also knitted, crocheted, embroidered and painted.

After her children were grown, she worked for many years with Hertz. She then moved on to the purchasing department for the Air Academy School District where she worked until retirement. She then kept busy working part time as bookkeeper. She also maintained all the paperwork necessary to run her and Doug’s trucking business for over 30 years.

Later in life Lola relocated to Wylie, Texas to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She formed many new friendships and was active in the local quilt guild. She continued her love of travel to visit family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ann (Willhoit) Homer, her husband, R. Douglas Caler, son-in-law’s Joseph P. Ord and William (Bill) Ratliff, and nephew Ferron E. Rice.

Lola is survived by her three daughters, Arita Ord-Flores (Cristobal) of Austin, Texas, Julie Fausak (Greg) of Dallas, Texas, and Lisa Ratliff of Cedar Creek, Texas; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by, and had a special place in her heart for, her sister, Karen Tate, and brother, Earl Homer.

Per her wishes, no service is planned. The family and close friends will gather at a later date to celebrate her life.

Condolences
