Carol Sue (Peterson) Tatay – Obituary
Carol Sue (Peterson) Tatay, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 82.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Hazel Peterson, husband, Charles “Chuck” Tatay, and her daughter, Carol Sue (Tatay) Bland.
Carol was born on December 31, 1942, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and was raised in Kansas City, Kansas. She was a proud alumna of the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Carol earned her degree in Elementary Special Education with an emphasis in Art. She began her teaching career in the North Kansas City School District, later continuing in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Eventually, she and Chuck settled in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, where Carol served as the Chief Financial Officer for their family-owned manufacturing businesses.
Carol leaves behind her beloved daughter, Mary (Tatay) Hohman, and grandson Tre Hohman of Murphy, TX; son-in-law William Bland Jr., and grandsons William Bland III and Charles Bland of Tomball, TX; her sister, Sylvia (Peterson) Scholtz of Kansas City, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
Carol will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—fiercely loyal, generous, and kind-hearted. She had an infectious sense of humor and a unique gift for creating beauty, whether through her art, gardens, or her deep appreciation for nature. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Carol’s name to the Susan G.
