Carolyn Roffino passed away on June 4, 2025, just days before her 90th birthday. In her last weeks, her beloved sons, Charlie, John, and Robert, kept watch over her and were a comfort to her.
Born to Virginia and Elton Krueger in Monterrey, Mexico on June 12, 1935, Carolyn was a cherished sister to Elton Krueger, Virginia Chapa, and Jaime Krueger. Over eight decades, whenever the four Krueger siblings got together, not only was the food very good, but their stories of growing up in Monterrey could entertain a houseful of guests. In 1955, Carolyn married Charles Roffino and during their 49 years of marriage they traveled the world; anyone who had the opportunity to travel with Carolyn recalls her excitement at boarding a plane and heading off to a place she had not visited before. She and Charlie made friends in every country they visited and many of those friendships lasted her entire life. Carolyn lived in two countries, excelled at languages, and became a highly regarded court room translator, work that she loved.
Carolyn’s compassion was endless. When she saw someone suffering, she reached out a hand. She touched many lives through her kindness and her dedication to serving others. The Roffino home often housed guests who needed help: a friend’s son undergoing medical treatment or a single mother with a newborn. Carolyn and Charlie brought mother and child into their home, and supported them while the new mother attended secretarial school. Carolyn spent many hours assisting families through Stephen Ministries and formed deep connections with the people she served.
Carolyn's grandchildren brightened her life — and she brightened theirs. They were her constant companions, her fellow adventurers, the people who made her laugh the most. Sundays in Carolyn’s kitchen with three (and occasionally four) generations created memories that will stay vivid through decades to come.
She also delighted in attending concerts, plays, and the opera with her Culture Club friends, a group of lively, spirited women who meant so much to Carolyn.
She is proceeded in death by husband Charlie, parents Elton and Virginia Krueger, brother Jaime Krueger, and niece Lupita Chapa. She is survived by sons Charlie (Laura) Roffino, John (Pam) Roffino, and Robert (Rebecca) Roffino; Grandchildren Charles (Kayleigh), Alex (Coral), Greg, Joshua, Rachel, Jack and Joey; and her pride and joy great-grandson Charlie. She is also survived by brother, Elton Krueger, sister Virginia (Augusto) Chapa and many nieces and nephews.
On Friday, June 27, a rosary will be held for Carolyn at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church to be followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am, also at the church (Spring Valley and Jupiter Road). A brief committal will follow in the Columbarium. Afterward, all are welcome to a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church — Stephen Ministries, 600 Jupiter Rd., Richardson, Texas, 75081 or to a charity of your choice.

Dear Charlie, Johnny, Bobby, and all the family, I send you all a warm and heartfelt hug. Today, Aunt Caro has gone ahead of us on the journey and has been welcomed into the arms of our Father. Though it makes us sad to say goodbye, I find comfort in knowing that Auntie Is now resting in peace. How can we describe someone with so many wonderful qualities—kindness, generosity, attentiveness, love, affection, compassion for those in need, education, deep faith, and a delightful touch in everything from her delicious guacamole to her healthy eating habits? She was truly an exemplary person. Auntie meant a lot to me; she was a great support during my time in Waco, TX. She was always caring and attentive. We shared unforgettable moments with the Roffino family. We laughed with Uncle Charlie during the five summers I worked there, and we met and helped many people she was connected with, always finding ways to support them and keep employment going. She welcomed Patito and Gerardo during one summer, repeating her kindness with their children. How could we not be grateful? I am certain she will continue to shine as a guiding light for my cousins, her children, and all of us. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy. Even if she’s no longer with us, she will forever live in our hearts. Rest in peace. 🙏🙏🤍

My family and I have many fond memories of times shared with my grandparents, Marvin and Marie Roberts, when Charlie and Carolyn would come to visit us in Austin, Texas. Carolyn was always so incredibly kind and thoughtful. She will be missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Love, Sarah Markos
