Doris Emily Tomlinson Dorsey peacefully passed away at home at the side of her daughter, in Allen, Texas on May 15, 2025. 

Doris was born in Charleston, SC on February 6, 1923, making her 102 years old.  She had been independently active and sharing a home with her daughter until April 2, when she suffered from an ongoing heart condition. After 3 days in the hospital, Doris came home to hospice and loving, round-the-clock care. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lynnwood Theenorris Dorsey, aged 84, on November 21, 1998 in Santa Barbara, California.  They had been happily married since 1946. Both had long, professional careers in the Veterans Administration. Doris was an admissions clerk for 20 years; L. T. Dorsey worked as a registrar/medical administrator for 43 years, retiring from one of the VA hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA. 

She was the daughter of Henry M. Tomlinson and Carmen Odessa Felicia Vanderhorst of Charleston, SC. Her only sibling was her sister, Ruth Tomlinson Green.  She is survived by her only child, Cheryl; niece, Ruth Inez Green (husband Charles and son Renard); niece, Felicia Briggs (husband Edward Sr., children: Edward Jr. and Starna Marie); and nephew, Robert Green (children: Shania Dalton Green and Dakota Dalton Green). 

Doris will be laid to rest in the family plot at the side of her husband at the Santa Barbara Cemetery: 901 Channel Dr., overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara, California.
