In Loving Memory of Dan McNeill

April 14, 1970 – May 6, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dan McNeill, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Dan passed away on May 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.

Born on April 14, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas, Dan was the son of David Carol McNeill and Linda Joy McNeill, both of whom preceded him in death. He later attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he pursued his education with determination and purpose.

Dan’s greatest joy was his family. He was married to his beloved wife Megan for nearly 18 years, and together they raised their son Connor, who was the light of Dan’s life. He is also survived by his devoted sisters, Rhonda McNeill, Gina Emery(Todd Emery), nephews Lane Emery, and Logan Emery.

Dan was known for his quick wit and clever writing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and making people laugh. When Dan entered a room, everyone gravitated towards him.

Dan had a sense of boundless generosity—he gave more than most ever knew, always putting others before himself. Whether through a quiet act of kindness, a heartfelt word, or simply being present, Dan made people feel seen, valued, and supported. His relationships were deep, and his loyalty was steadfast.

He had a passion for travel and experiencing the world, always seeking to learn, grow, and embrace new perspectives. His sense of curiosity never faded, and he continued to evolve intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually throughout his life.

Dan’s strong faith was a cornerstone of who he was. His relationship with God gave him peace, strength, and a deep sense of purpose. That faith shaped how he treated others—with compassion, patience, and grace—and gave him the resilience to face life’s challenges with quiet courage.

A service to celebrate Dan’s life will be held on MONDAY, May 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Church, Cox Chapel in Dallas, Texas. A reception will follow at the home of the Howarth's.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Dan’s heart.

Dan will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the lives he touched so deeply and in the love he gave so freely.

Condolences

Dan (Danny), was a one of a kind. He created strong relationships with friends and family. He was smart, funny, creative, and determined to accomplish his life goals. He had a fantastic personality/sense of humor. Being his cousin, I spent every summer of my adolescence, at their house. Danny was my little buddy, who laughed at everything that I did. I had a captive audience; because of this, I would make a point to try to make him laugh. Although Dan is gone, I will carry the memory of him throughout the rest of my life. Rest in peace, friend.
