On July 4th 2024 Mrs. Shirley Mae Dorsey Alexis was called to live in eternity with her Lord and Savior JESUS. Mrs. Alexis was born May 7th 1922 to the late Oliver Dorsey Sr. and Lillian Muggah Dorsey. She was proceeded in death by two brothers Oliver Dorsey Jr. and Melvin Dorsey and one sister Bernice Dorsey Harrison.

Mrs Alexis was a long time resident of New Orleans Louisiana. She attended Valena C. Jones and Booker T. Washington Public Schools in New Orleans. She married the late Elmer Paul Alexis Sr. a World War 2 Veteran(1942-45) at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in 1948. With this Union they had seven children. Her first born son Elmer Paul Alexis Jr. proceeded her in death. Mrs. Alexis left New Orleans in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and lived the remaining years of her life in Lewisville Texas.

Mrs. Alexis loved God and her family. She lived 102 years believing and trusting God to be in charge of her life.

She leaves to mourn her passing two sons Wendell Alexis and Emanuel Alexis Sr.  Four daughters Lillian Alexis Fore(JAMES) , Christina Alexis Smith, Claire Alexis McQueen(LEO) and Sylvia Alexis Bush. We love you Mom. Grandma Shirley was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren who loved and miss her. She is lovingly remember by her first born nephew Jacob Harrison Jr.and other nephews, nieces,  family and friends. The blessing of Mrs.Alexis remains will be  at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in New Orleans La. Burial will be at  Veterans Cemetery in Slidell La.
