Georgia Ann Ryan Hurley, Age:77

Georgia Ann Ryan Hurley, born on March 26, 1947, in Seymour, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2025. She led a rich and creative life, leaving behind a legacy of artistic pursuits and cherished memories.

Georgia's life journey began with her graduation from Seymour High School in 1965, followed by her studies at North Texas State University and Midwestern University. Her professional career started in Lubbock as a secretary for an electrical company before she moved to Dallas in 1968.

In March 1969, Georgia married Joe Hurley, making Dallas their home until 1988. During this time, she worked for JWL Investments for 17 years. The couple then relocated to San Antonio, Texas, in 2016. Upon Joe's retirement, they settled at Cypress Springs Lake in Mt. Vernon, Texas.

Georgia was known for her creative passions, which included painting, crocheting, and needlepoint. A large number of her creations went to Central America and Thailand. She had a particular talent for painting Santa Clauses on various surfaces. Her love for crafting extended to hosting classes for children at her home, where she was known to provide plenty of snacks along with artistic activities.

She is survived by her husband Joe Hurley, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rob and Sissy Stacks, sister-in-law Jerry Ann Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Victoria Ryan, and two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Ryan.

Georgia had a special affection for her little dogs and looked forward to reuniting with them at the Rainbow Bridge, a concept that brings comfort to many pet owners who have lost their beloved animals.

Her life was marked by creativity, family bonds, and a love for animals, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX. There will be a graveside service at a future date. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Salvation Army.
