BILLY FRANK BOUNDS was born on September 12, 1925 in the front bedroom of his grandparent McLeod’s home in Wortham, Texas, to his parents Benjamin Franklin Bounds and Minnie Ollie McLeod. As a child he lived at Bounds Cross Road and SH 17 surrounded by family. He joined the Army Air Forces in 1943 while still in high school and was called to active duty on October 11, 1943. He was commissioned as an officer and bomber pilot and discharged at the end of the war. Upon discharge he attended Texas A&M University.
In 1946 he met Frances Elizabeth Young at the State Fair in Dallas on a blind date and they married on January 31, 1947. They remained married for 77 years until her death in June 2024.
Over the course of his life, Billy Frank worked for American Airlines, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Gulf Pipeline Company, and Chevron while living in Dallas, Fort Worth, Wortham, Odessa and Abilene, Texas. He and his wife were active volunteers in their churches and in their children’s school and scouting activities.
After retiring, Billy Frank and Frances moved back to the Dallas area, residing in Garland and Plano since 1992. They loved to eat out, fish, campout, and travel with family and friends.
He is a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church.
He died November 30, 2024. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Frances Bounds Powell (Houston) and Virgina Bounds Owens (James). Billy is survived by his children Scott Bounds (Ellen) and Debbie Noonan (David), four grandchildren Seth Bounds (Jenni), Jesse Bounds (Gloria), Meredith Noonan and Rachel Noonan, and five great grandsons Carsten, William, Benjamin, Andrew and Lyndon.
