Mary “Ann” Smith, age 71

Mary “Ann” Smith of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully at Faith Presbyterian Hospice on October 26, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ann was born to Gerald and Mary Fritts in Laredo, Texas. She grew up in Houston, Texas, graduated from Bellaire High School and went on to earn an Accounting degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Ann was married to Vaner Smith for 47 wonderful years before his passing in 2021. She was affectionately known as “Gee” to her four grandchildren: Joshua, Emmy, Kaelyn and Kensley. She loved gardening , visiting the Dallas Arboretum and was an active member of her church.

She is survived by daughter Amy Caster and her husband Landry Caster of Fort Worth, and son Wesley Smith and his wife Linda Nguyen Smith of Coppell, sister Nancy Fritts, brothers Gene Fritts and David Fritts, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family members.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at the T. Boone Pickens Center in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ann’s memory may be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice (https:www.forefrontliving.org/donate-now).
