Date of Death: November 1, 2024

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ashley Michelle Swihart who passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2024.

Ashley was born on July 7, 1984 to Jim and Carol Swihart of Canton, Ohio.

The love of her life was her daughter Reagan, of whom she was incredibly proud and lovingly called her “Boo.” Ashley and Reagan shared a love of art and music.

Ashley graduated from Tippecanoe High School in Tipp City, Ohio in 2002. She attended Ohio State University and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She graduated as an Industrial Designer in 2006 from SCAD.

After graduating she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she developed an appreciation for cowgirl boots and made many close friends with whom she enjoyed concerts and dancing.

Ashley had a soft spot for animals of all kinds, especially her dog Blanche.

Ashley was a talented artist who enjoyed woodworking, painting, drawing, and crafting. She was recognized as a Master Woodworker by the Texas Woodworkers Association.

She is survived by her daughter Reagan, parents Jim and Carol Swihart, sister Amy Sapola (Matt Sapola), and niece Gabriella and nephew Rockwell and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ashley was a beautiful soul with the kindest heart for which words can not describe how much she will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ohio this Spring.

In lieu of flowers we would appreciate you taking time to remember Ashley and the ways in which she touched your life.

I recently learned the profoundly sad news about the loss of Ashley Swihart. The universe feels acutely unfair without her orbit but perhaps it was trying to teach us something for having her in it. It is my hope in time we can all find that silver lining. I remember the very first time I met Ashley at the orthodontist's office on Hathaway Trail in Tipp City, OH around the Spring of 1999. I also remember the last time I saw Ashley in the summer of 2002 in Columbus, OH at the Promowest Pavilion. I have many essential memories between those two points in time. I went on my first date, attended my first dance, did my first yoga class, numerous concerts, movies, meals, amusement parks and even toilet-papered my first house along with Ashley and some friends. I'm pretty sure that wasn't my idea. I'm so grateful for those memories. I always have been. I'd like to send my heartfelt condolences to Jim, Carol, and Amy. Thank you for being so gracious in our interactions. I'm wishing you my sincerest hopes for comfort and healing. I always held Ashley in the highest regards and had the utmost reverence for her as a person. We're all better and kinder people for having known her for either just a short period of time or a lifetime. I’m also wishing everyone fortunate enough to know her a lot of strength and light because she was indeed just that, a ray of light. It was a privilege to have known her. She truly was a good-spirited, funny, smart, talented, unique, and beautiful person. I know she will be missed and I’m just so sorry to everyone whose lives she impacted and uplifted. May your memory remain eternal in the hearts of those you loved and also those that loved you. With sympathy, Tony Voisard (Tippecanoe, Class of 2000)
