Don C. Latimer, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 1, 2024 in Richardson, TX at the age of 77. Words are not sufficient to describe the loss we feel. This strong and gentle man made our world complete.
He was born on November 16, 1946 to Curtis E. and Margaret (Trulock) Latimer in Colorado City, TX. His childhood was full of horseback adventures and deep friendships. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and embodied those principles throughout his life. He had a career as a cowboy and cattleman.
Don graduated from Sul Ross University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Range and Animal Science and earned a Master’s in Mid-Management from Angelo State University. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service for several years before returning home to work with his father. He also taught science for many years in Westbrook, Odessa, and Wylie until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by infant son, Don Walker from an earlier marriage; his parents Curtis and Margaret, and brother John. Survivors include his wife Rita, daughters Cole Latimer and Temple (Latimer), son-in law Dustin Taylor; three grandchildren Simone, Philip, and Pascal Taylor. He is also survived by his oldest brother Dan Latimer, nieces Christina Cedars and Reagan Lammons, and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 28 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Rd, Richardson, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Epiphany Episcopal Church of Richardson.
