Jeffrey Stauffer, Age:73

Jeffrey Mark Stauffer, 73, of Little Elm, Texas, died on September 9, 2024, after a 21-month battle with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Jeff was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Pops), uncle, and brother. He passed peacefully at his home in Little Elm surrounded by his family.

Born on January 15, 1951, in Quincy, Illinois to Warren Stauffer and Awana (Ward) Stauffer, Jeff graduated from North Kansas City High School in North Kansas City, Missouri, in 1969. In 1973, he earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri at Rolla where he was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Jeff moved to Little Elm in 1979 where he served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, three years on the City Council, and a term as Mayor from 1987 to 1989.

On his first day working at Zale Corporation in Dallas, Jeff met Suzanne Verville. He was much overdressed in a three-piece suit, something she never let him forget! The two wed on September 5, 1981, at the DeGolyer Estate in Dallas.

In addition to his time at Zales, Jeff’s computer programming career spanned 43 years for companies including Texas Instruments, Santa Fe Minerals, Lennox Industries, and Neiman Marcus. After 20 years at Neiman Marcus, he retired in November 2016 to spend time with family and friends and pursue his woodworking hobby.

Jeff was in Boy Scouts growing up where he earned his Eagle Scout from Troop 260 in 1967. He continued to serve his community into adulthood and was involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts (where he was known as “Mr. Jeff”) in Little Elm and The Colony. Jeff assisted in revitalizing Cub Scout Pack 367, created its model rocket roundup, organized a trek to Philmont Scout Ranch with BSA Troop 226, helped found BSA Troop 45 in Little Elm, and served in various leadership positions in Girl Scout Troop 396. Jeff also served as treasurer of the Lobo Band Boosters for many years.

Jeff leaves his wife Suzanne Verville, son Patrick (Caroline Hand) Stauffer of Norman, OK, daughter Brianne (Brian) Green of Yukon, OK, grandchildren Elliot and Josephine Hand-Stauffer of Norman, OK, brother Curtis Stauffer of Colorado Springs, CO, aunt Anne Ward of Quincy IL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cats Junior and Gurl.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents Arthur and Alice Stauffer of Quincy, IL and Giles and Gertrude Ward of Hull, IL
