David Eugene (Gene) Tupman, Age:83

David Eugene(Gene) Tupman of Anna, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2024, from stroke related complications at the age of 83. He was born in Levelland Texas on June 30,1940 to David Lynn and Pauline Ruth Tupman. He is survived by his wife Terri of 38 years, his daughter Kathy Wensel of Flower Mound, Texas and son Keith Tupman of Tulsa, Oklahoma from a previous marriage. He is also survived by his younger sister Romana Hatcher who still resides in Gainesville. He had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Dave, or Gene as he was known in his earlier years, grew up in Gainesville Texas. After graduating from Gainesville High School, he attended the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in electrical engineering. Later he earned his Master’s in business administration at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

He worked as an electrical engineer and microwave engineer at General Dynamics, Texas Instruments, and Hewlett-Packard. When the late 80’s layoffs hit he decided to make a career change and started his own one-man home repair business called “Make a List”. Due to his work ethic and the fact that he could fix anything he was never lacking for work. Perhaps his most unusual job was piecing back together a Faberge egg a client had broken. He meticulously glued it back together piece by piece over a period of days until it was done. Good as new.

He loved doing Greek and Hebrew work studies and would spend days going through his concordances studying just one word. He was very glad when the internet came along. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf with his dad and his son.

In 1993 he and his wife, Terri, moved to a 50 acre farm east of Anna, Texas. There they usually cared for as many as 6 horses and 9 dogs at any one time. He was not a horseman, but he told his wife that he would build the barn and she could ride the horses. He did and she still does.

Dave was analytical, a problem solver, and an inventor. He invented and patented an air purifier system still being sold today.

His remains are being cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
