Betty Jean Stacy, Age:96

Betty Jean Stacy (nee Burnett) passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024 at the home of her son. Betty was born August 11, 1927, in Lewiston, New York. She was the daughter of the late Everett and the late Marjorie (nee Miller) Burnett, and the eldest of five children. She married Sumner Stacy in Ransomville, NY, on November 27, 1946, after his service in the United States Army.

 

Betty and Sumner raised their three children in Western New York until they moved to Northern California in 1963. She enjoyed keeping house, cooking, and camping trips with her family. Early in her marriage she and Sumner enjoyed bowling and square dancing. She was an active member of Eastern Star while living in New York, California, and Texas. After Sumner’s retirement in the 1980’s they relocated to Mineola, Texas where their hobbies included traveling with their trailer, rock hounding, selling jewelry they made from rock hounding and visiting family. Sumner passed away in 2011. She enjoyed watching baseball on TV and was a fan of the Texas Rangers, and the Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants while living in California.

 

Surviving are her sibling Lois (William) O’Neill; her children Roger (Kim) Stacy of Texas, Ronald (Jacki) Stacy of Oregon, and Janice (Steven) Ashby of Colorado, nieces Patricia (Nicholas) Sadowski, Mary (Ken) Price, Katy (Marc) Boies, Judy (late Mike) Boyce, nephews, Robert (Kathy) Mather, Tim (Florian) O’Neill, Doug (Mary) Burnett, 5 grandchildren (Kris, Stephanie, Alison, David, Kevin), and 6 great-grandchildren (Kristofer, Caleb, Cason, Nicholas, Courtney, Madeline) . She is predeceased by her brother, Gerald (late Marjorie) Burnett, sister Ruth (late George) Mather, and sister Naomi (late William) Campbell.
