Beatrice Green, Age:69

Beatrice Reyes Green, age 69, of Wylie, TX passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2024 in the comfort of her home.

Beatrice, “Bea” was born on May 17th, 1954, in Runge, TX. Bea grew up in a loving and hardworking, farming household. When she saw the need to help her widowed mother with the labor of the farm, she lovingly chose to put her education on hold and focus on her family’s immediate needs.

In the 1970s, Bea married James Alton Green in McKinney, TX. Their children are Emily Elaine Greenfield, Terrie Lynn Brewer, and James “Alton” Green.

Bea was a strong and loving wife, mother, mamaw, grandma, and friend. In her early adult years, she lived with her sister and brother-in-law. They are the ones who introduced Bea to her future husband, James Green. Bea went on to spend nearly 50 years with her loving James by her side. While working and raising a young family of her own, Bea still found the time to continue working on her education. She was diagnosed with diabetes in 1983. She didn’t let that slow her down. Bea was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 25th, 1988. When Bea’s mother was battling cancer, Bea, with the support and help of her loving husband moved her mom into their own home. Bea took her mother to doctor appointments, cared for her at home, and was at her side until she passed away in 1991. Bea bravely underwent a risky, quintuple bypass surgery in 1995 without a blood transfusion, in adherence to her spiritual beliefs. Although some doctors doubted she would survive another year even if she survived the surgery, she again didn’t let that slow her down. Over the years she battled numerous health issues, even at one point losing all vision for several months while undergoing multiple surgeries to restore partial vision. Bea was a strong fighter. If someone said she couldn’t do something, she was known to reply with, “Watch me!” When she wasn’t defying odds, Bea loved gardening, photography, and spending time with her large family and friends.

Bea is survived by her husband, James Green of Wylie, TX; sister Teresa and husband Ted Munoz of DeQueen, AR; brother Marcos and wife Amanda Acosta of Wylie, TX; brother John and wife Sylvia Gonzalez of Princeton, TX. Bea is also survived by stepdaughter Emily Greenfield of Plano, TX; daughter Terrie and husband Mike Brewer of Gillham, AR; and son “Alton” Green and husband Nick Spears of Allen, TX. Bea is also survived by nephews and nieces Eddie Munoz of Locksburg, AR; Margie and husband Bobby Walker of Locksburg, AR; Christina Martinez of Garland, TX; Marcus III and wife Susie Acosta of Arlington, TX; Moses Acosta and wife Angelica Olvera of Arlington, TX; John Jr and wife Monica Gonzalez of Princeton, TX; Adriana Parks of Dallas, TX; and Jake Gonzalez of Dallas, TX. Bea is also survived by grandchildren Hanna-Mae, William, and Sarah Greenfield; Ethan Brewer and wife Jessi Gentry; Cody Brewer; and Micayla and James Green. Bea is also survived by a large extended family.

Bea is preceded in death by her father, Marcus Acosta of Runge, TX; mother Margarita “Maggie” Gonzalez of Wylie, TX; father and mother-in-law, Wesley “Bun” and Mattie Green of Van Alstyne, TX; sister, Irma Acosta of Runge, TX; and brother-in-law, Tommy Green of Van Alystene, TX
