Sandra Rickerson, Age:64

Sandra Lynn Thomas Rickerson, 64, of Royse City, Texas, went to be with Jesus May 14, 2022. She was born April 6, 1958, in Dallas to H. A. and Dorothy Thomas.  

 

She married the love of her life, David Rickerson, May 20, 1978, in Mesquite at Eastridge Park Christian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband, David Rickerson; daughter Sally Ross and husband Cody; and sons Charlie Rickerson and wife Ginni; and Andrew Rickerson and wife Jennifer. 

 

She leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren, Levi Ross (11,) Jackson Ross (8,) Mathis Rickerson (9,)  Mercer Rickerson (7,) McCall Rickerson (4,) Eveyln Rickerson (7,) Luke Rickerson (5,) and Isaac Rickerson (11 months.) 

 

She was preceded in death by her father H. A. Thomas. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Thomas and siblings Karl Thomas, Susan Schneider, Keith Thomas and Kris Thomas.

 

Sandra grew up in Mesquite and attended North Mesquite High School where she was a member of the NMHS Big Blue Band.  She played the saxophone and bassoon.

 

She was a current member of First Baptist Church Rockwall and a devoted member of the Servant’s Heart Sunday School class. She was baptized at FBC Commerce when she and David were first married. She used her gift of attention to detail and administration to keep the financial books for some of the churches where she and David served. 

 

From that time, her faith grew as she was the hands and feet of Jesus. Together Sandra and David served in several ministries over the next 43 years, among them Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, Eastview Baptist Church (Mission from Shiloh Terrace,) FBC Sunnyvale, Community Life Church, Second Baptist and FBC Rockwall. She was involved in the nursery and children’s programs at various churches.

 

Her children said she was many things to many people. Some of her roles include wife, mother, sister, grandmother, daughter, friend, aunt, cousin, neighbor, mentor, teacher and granddaughter.   

 

Words they used to describe her include determined, strong, clever, creative, stubborn, resourceful, crafty, gentle, patient, intentional, frugal, practical, thoughtful, detailed, servant, hard worker, tough, provider, generous, caretaker, loving, loyal and sacrificial. 

 

Some of Sandra’s hobbies included gardening, knitting, crocheting and teaching her granddaughters to make pot holders and to knit. She also enjoyed biking, sewing, working outside and making her famous pizza for her grandkids. 



Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, at FBC Rockwall.
