Dr. Clark Elliott Swafford passed away on February 12, 2022, with his wife and son at his bedside in his home in Dallas, TX. He was born at Baylor Medical Center on June 6, 1960, to Clint Allen and Shirley Marie (Elliott) Swafford-Prather. He lived in Dallas, TX his entire life.
Clark met the love of his life, Cheryl Swafford (Ridsdale) in 1979 through mutual friends. They married on July 3, 1982. Their son, Jeffrey Lynn Swafford was born on April 4, 1987.
Clark worked at SMU in the TV Systems department for 29 years, and later worked for DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management for over 20 years. He had a passion for helping students and wanted deeply to make a difference. This passion was reflected in his work at both Universities.
Clark obtained his Doctorate of Higher Education in November 2017 in answer to a calling to help Universities acclimate first generation students and Hispanic students into the college environment.
During his career as an Engineering professor and Associate Dean of Academics, Clark made a positive difference in many students’ lives. Many of his students and colleagues have admired his work ethic and his way of making complicated subjects less intimidating. He saw the good in everyone, and never said a critical word about anyone.
Clark is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Lynn Swafford (Ridsdale) and his son, Jeffrey Lynn Swafford, as well as several first cousins, nieces, and nephew.
