Robert Wilcox
June 27, 1935 -- December 10, 2020

Robert Wilcox, known lovingly by his friends and family as “Daddy Bob” passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020 of natural causes.

Robert was born on June 27, 1935 in Atlanta, GA.  After graduating from high school, Robert joined the United States Air Force.

He then married his high school sweetheart, Jacquelyn Pinkston on May 4, 1957.  While in Atlanta, they had a daughter and then moved to Chicago and had three sons.

Robert had several jobs in Chicago including becoming a supervisor at a Spiegel Inc.’s  warehouse and later working in a steel mill.

After retiring, Robert and Jacquelyn moved from Harvey, Illinois to Mesquite, Texas to live closer to their three surviving children.

Robert will be remembered as a God-fearing and hardworking man.  He always wore a suit and was well-groomed.  His children will cherish childhood memories such as going several places like church on Sundays, the zoo, the park, the aquarium, the circus, the drive-in theaters, as well as going to see the Chicago White Sox play baseball.  His hobbies included reading, listening to music, and taking road trips/traveling.

His favorite television show was Judge Judy, and he loved watching basketball.

He is survived by his brothers: Milton and Norman (Carolyn – deceased); two children: Susan and Derrick (Evelyn); eight grandchildren: Corrinn, Tamika (Cliff), Kirsten (Terrell), Ashley, Darren, Kayla, Brian and Ryan; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife: Jacquelyn and his two children: Kurt (Audrey - living) and Craig (Teri).

The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers and staff members at Heritage Place of Mesquite Nursing Home.

His cremation is being handled by All Texas Cremation and a graveside service for the immediate family will be held at a later date.

Wilcox Family--My deepest condolences. My favorite memory Easter Sunday at church when I took off my shoes to make the very long walk more quickly and comfortably--he called my name and indicated they'd better go back on! Without many words we understood I'd shown dispect to the place designated for Worship. And so they promptly did.I had the privilege if sharing meals in his and Mama Jackie's home and remember fondly their kindness and welcome. Corrin, Derrick and Audrey my prayers are with you. Rest Well, Daddy Bob.
