Robert Taylor better known as Poppie to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren passed away peacefully on Monday November 6, 2023.

Robert (81) was born to Clifton Taylor and Marcie Osmon on July 16, 1942 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He made a living as a mechanic, scrap metal recycler, and splitting and selling wood. Robert enjoyed fishing, caring for his dogs, and having a cup of coffee or a Dr. Pepper under his large Oak tree. He never met a stray animal he wouldn’t take in, his love for animals was incredible. Robert had more than 20 Chihuahuas, and cared for several cats, cows, horses, pigs, chickens, goats, he even fed the hummingbirds that frequented his home. He loved being outdoors from dusk til dawn.

After loss of his only son Bobby in 1984 and the loss of his late wife Martha just a few years ago, he understood heartache and resilience. He battled his own health issues with COPD and degenerative disc disease without treatment for many years. He stayed to himself and never wandered too far from home. He made his mark on the small town of Bonham, Texas and the loyal friends he made there.

He was surrounded by his daughters Trisha and Cathy, as well as grandchildren Patrice (Teasa), Ruben and fiancé London, Calvin (CC) and spouse Adraine, Brandy (Chicken Rider), Casey and wife Amber. Also surrounding Robert during his passing were; his sister Pansy, niece Enola (Sissy), nephew Pete and great-niece Becky. His great-grandchildren; Camden, Jacklyn, Brayden, Romeo, Lyla and Boss were also by his side. Robert was surrounded by an immense amount of love as he bid his farewell to this life as we know it.

In addition to those mentioned, Robert has 3 other grandchildren; Vanessa, Catherine, and Johnny and a total of 13 additional great-grandchildren who brought soo much joy to his life.

Robert with his sarcasm and humor will be dearly missed and always remembered by family and friends.
A celebration of life memorial will be held at Sycamore Bend Park off Lewisville Lake on Sunday, December 3 at 1pm.
