February 15, 1961 -- August 12, 2023

Leonard Kolp, Jr. , Age:62

Leonard Kolp Jr was born on February 15,1961, to Leonard Kolp Sr and Phyllis Kolp in Detroit, Michigan. Leo, as he was called by those close to him, moved to California at the age of 3 with his parents and three sisters, Sandy, Kathy, and Susie. They made a home in La Habra where Leo attended Imperial Junior High and later Senora High School.

Leo loved music and formed a band called Warlok, where he played bass guitar. Music was his escape and a joy he shared with his family and those close to him. During this time, he worked for Toyota where he became the first master parts professional in the nation. He excelled at his work and loved what he did, eventually becoming a director of parts at Toyota of Whittier, in California.

Another of his passions was fishing which he found relaxing. He participated in numerous bass fishing tournaments, winning many of them and passing on this love to his son. Leo later moved to Texas with his wife and son in order to have a better life. In January of 2013, Leo was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). During this time he  underwent brain surgery and fought to live. After 10 years of fighting it finally took its toll on him and he passed on August 12, 2023.

Leo is survived by his children Allison Jeffery and Jonathan Kolp, as well as his sisters Sandy Pearson, Kathy Probert, and Susie Weatherholt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a grandson.

Leo loved to make people laugh and spread joy and fun to those around him. Everywhere he went he was always the life of the party and a great friend to many. Leo's greatest joy and deepest love was his children, who meant more to him than his own life. He is loved deeply and his memory carries on through the hearts and stories of those he touched in his life and his legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. He will be deeply missed.

I used to go to Leo's in Jr high when he lived over by the Alpha Beta store on euclid and Imperial. He always loved to fish i would see him and Mark Zeller up at Laguna lake. A lot of great memories with your dad and was glad we reconnected. i called him every so often to see how he was doing. He will be missed! RIP Leo. PS Leo how bout those Lions!
