Karl Vaughan Harris II, of Greenville, Texas (formerly of Grand Prairie, Texas) passed away at his home of two years on July 24, 2023 following a six month battle with cancer.  Karl was born in New Orleans, LA on March 30, 1949 to Leon Woosley Harris and Iris Jane Harris, the second of six children.  The family moved to Houston, TX before Karl started school.  He attended Lee High School in Houston graduating in 1968 and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.  He proudly served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam era where he spent time in Okinawa.  He worked for many years and loved his work at the Fairmont hotel in Dallas, TX until health issues forced him to retire in 2011. 

Karl was preceded in death by his parents Leon (2011) and Jane (2019), brothers Jefferson Paul Harris (1988) and John David Harris (2021), and brother-in-law Jeffrey L. Riley (2001).  He is survived by siblings Rebecca Wright (John David) of Greenville, TX; Suzanne Riley of Springfield, VA; Daniel Harris (Betsy) of El Campo, TX and sister-in-law Wendy Harris of Montgomery, TX.  He was blessed with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family too numerous to name.

Karl was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who was quick witted, fun, big hearted and generous.  He will be missed dearly.
