Aileen Savage, born on April 11, 1927 in Los Angeles, California, died peacefully at her daughters home in Richardson, Texas, with her family by her side, on June 30, 2021 at the age of 94. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a cherished friend to so many. She spent her first 41 years of life in Southern California where she cofounded the still active TNT Sorority at Long Beach City College. She moved to Fresno where she met her husband and started a family. They then settled and became deeply rooted in La Habra, California where she was actively involved in her community and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church & school. In 1969 she and her family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she remained actively involved in organizations such as Christ Child Society and as a member of St. Theresa’s Parish and Gerard Catholic High School. Her gift was the ability to build strong, life-long friendships within each community she lived. She was an avid bridge player and bowler and enjoyed golf as a member of Mesa Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam of 48 years; she is survived by daughters Robin & Barbara; sons Leslie & Larry; grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Nicole, Christopher, Kylar & Samantha; great-grandchildren, Madison, Reese, Brynn, Hunter & Carter. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Scottsdale House, 4800 N. 68th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to Christ Child Society, 4633 N. 54th St., Phoenix, AZ 85018 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.

For the last couple of years that the Gerard crowd had their annual Yulebach gathering I attended to help my mom, Mickey Gilbert. I think it was a highlight of the year for many of them. At the last one that Aileen attended I remember her telling me, with a heavy heart, how she knew it was her last one and how much she enjoyed and cherished the gathering with all her friends. She was a dear friend of my mom’s (who passed in 1/2020) and I am thankful for the friendship they had. She was a charming and gracious lady. May she Rest In Peace.

Friend through Christ Child Society Scottsdale , Arizona
I was at Mt. Claret where we had our first Mass for the 2021-2022 year. We offered up prayers for Aileen Savage. I met her these past 20 years through Christ Child Bridge. I so enjoyed her. She was a great bridge player. She left Scottsdale for a short while but returned and started up bridge at Scottsdale House. I was thrilled. A great lady!
